Land Grading

Caliche, Dirt and Drainage Grading for Driveways, Building Pads and Ranch Roads Across the Rio Grande Valley

A properly graded property is the foundation of everything — driveways that don't flood, building pads that don't shift, and land that drains the way it should. At Valley Stone Ranch Land Clearing & Development, we specialize in professional land grading and leveling across the Rio Grande Valley, and we understand the unique challenges of working with South Texas soil — caliche hardpan, expansive clay, and low-lying terrain that holds water after every rain.We shape the land so you can build with confidence.

WHAT WE DO:
  • Level and grade raw land for home sites and building pads
  • Create proper drainage slopes to move water away from structures
  • Grade and prepare private driveways and ranch roads
  • Redistribute dirt from high points to low areas — cut and fill work
  • Work with caliche, gravel, crushed concrete, and fill dirt
  • Prepare agricultural land and pasture areasLevel uneven terrain after land clearing
  • Build up low areas prone to flooding and standing water
  • Shape land for ponds, retention areas, and drainage channels
HOW WE DO IT:
We use our 2019 CAT 316 Excavator and 2025 JCB 270T Track Loader equipped with a precision grading blade to move and shape earth accurately and efficiently. On larger jobs we run both machines simultaneously — the excavator handling heavy earthmoving while the loader fine-grades the surface to your desired slope and elevation. We bring the right combination of equipment for each job, which means faster results and lower cost to you.
MATERIALS WE WORK WITH:
One of the things that sets us apart is our ability to work with the materials that matter most in South Texas:Caliche — the natural hardpan material common throughout the RGV, perfect for driveways and road basesGravel — for drainage and road surfacesCrushed concrete — a durable, cost-effective base materialFill dirt — for building up low areas and leveling uneven terrainNative soil — redistributed and compacted for stable building surfaces
WHY PROPER GRADING MATTERS IN SOUTH TEXAS:
The Rio Grande Valley is flat, and flat land doesn't drain on its own. Without proper grading, rainwater pools around foundations, washes out driveways, and creates long-term damage to structures and property. We shape your land with drainage in mind from the start — so your investment holds up through rainy seasons and years of use.South Texas caliche and clay also require someone who knows how to work with them. We've graded land across Cameron County, Hidalgo County, and beyond, and we know how to read the terrain and work with local soil conditions to get you a stable, long-lasting result.

WHO WE SERVE:
We work with homeowners, ranchers, developers, farmers, and contractors throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Serving Cameron County, Hidalgo County, Starr County, and surrounding areas. Based in La Feria, TX.
